A short update. When I started working on this project I thought it would be a fast alternative to the Dragon Tiger Tank. But, I got bogged down with the bogies, which happened to be Step 1.
Dragon supplies 2 options for the drive sprocket. The Dragon instructions provide no insight on which one you should use. Most of the online references state to use the simple version versus the pointed version. The drive sprockets are made of 4 pieces and are well detailed. There is small gap were the face plate tab meets the main hub slot that needs to be filled.
The road wheels are also have decent detailed. Each road wheel is made of 2 pieces and fit together reasonably well. There are slight gaps between the interior portion and the outside wheel. At first I ran a bead of Tamiya Extra Thin Cement around the edges to close most of the gaps. The gaps that wouldn’t be filled with “melted” plastic I had to run in a small amount of filler. Lastly, I would recommend that you sand down the edges the wheel – the edges are too square and need to look worn down. Later on I might go back and take out small chucks to give it more of a worn look.
Below the idler wheel. It is also made up of 2 pieces and fit together much better than the road wheels. Check your fit of the idler wheel to the lower hull. Mine was too tight and I had to ground out the hole inside the idler wheel.
Well back to the boogies, they seem to be a model in itself.
