The end

Finally have finished the Red Baron. Sorry about the pics, I like to take my good photos with sunlight but the weather here is not cooperating (windy then rainy). Overall this is a pretty typical Roden model build. They look good when completed but there are fiddly areas and sink holes to deal with all through the build. Since their 1/32 models are usually around run $50 to $60 they should not have sinkholes. I also wish Roden would start including PE seatbelts and decal instruments, but when you’re the only game in town. Can’t wait to see what Eduard does with their 1/48 Fokker DR.I.

As a last suggestion, I recommend that you use stretch rigging thread for the rigging on the axle wing. The rigging tends to flex due to the weight. Also allow the wheels to thoroughly dry before displaying – the weight will bow the wheels out.

I think for my next 1/32 Roden DR.I project I am going to build Josef Jacobs black plane. I know it is not the most exciting paint scheme but I really like all black schemes.

I just glad I was able to get it done prior to the upcoming model show. It is the IPMS West Central Missouri’s Oktoberfest 2007 in Lee’s Summit, MO (October 27, 2007). Hope to see you there.

PS. I will try to take better pics when the weather cooperates.
