About ready for flight

I pushed through the week and have almost completed the Fokker. The top wing has been installed and painted. There were no real issues. I am not sure that cutting the outer struts in half was a good idea or not. I had to balance the placement of the inner trusts with the outer struts. On the next build I will have to try it without cutting the outer struts. The rigging has been installed and I am putting on the odds and ends.

Last major part I needed to paint was the prop. The prop was initially primed with Mr. Surfacer 1000. After it dried I sprayed a coating of Vallejo Wood. This will represent the dark wood. I cut 4 thin long strips of tape (2 for each side) and placed them the entire length of the prop. I matched the backside mask with the front. I then sprayed Vallejo Radome Tan to represent the light wood.

After the paint was dry, I wiped the prop with Winsor & Newton Burnt Sienna. After letting it set for about 5 minutes, I wiped away the oil paint until I was happy with the streaking. I had to day or so for the oil paint to dry and sprayed a coating of future (you can also use Tamiya Clear Orange, but it will turn out darker but also looks good). I then placed on the manufacture decal.

The center portion was painted with Citadel (Games Workshop) Boltgun Metal. I then painted several light coats of black wash (Black oil paint mixed with Turpenoid) to bring out the detail. And I am essentially done. A few more details and she will be ready to fly.
