Well, I hit a little snag on step 5. I went to dry fit the lower hull and upper hull and there is a significant gap as evidenced below. I am not sure what I did wrong – I have seen a couple other Dragon Shermans built and I don’t think others ran into this problem. I did see one who had to fill a gap on the backside, but not in the front.
Anyway, I decided to deal with this problem before adding all the odds and ends to the front side. I wanted to leave plenty room to work without fear of damaging the other parts. The only step you need to complete before gluing the two hulls together is drilling out the holes for the tools. After the hulls were together (the fit is decent but there are a few gaps that need to be filled) I added a strip of .010” plastic card. After the glued dried I sanded the filler down as best as I can. I put a coating of Mr. Dissolved Putty over the top to clean it up. It is not perfect but this is a tank and can be covered up later.
Below is another gap between hulls that will also need to filled and sanded smooth.
